settling

/ these rambling pink roses grow along the side fence in our backyard

/ I couldn’t think of a more perfect book for this stage; it’s the ultimate reference while in the midst of setting up a new home (more to come soon)

/ housewarming blooms sent from my parents….don’t peonies sit so well next to protea?!

/ drying in the afternoon sun after an ocean swim

What a relief it is to close the door on one house and enter a new one – a freshly painted blank canvas. Regardless of the fact that I’ve been sick for the past few days, there is much to love about being here. This little beach cottage feels like a holiday home and we’ve all adopted a holiday pace (which, I admit, isn’t all that conducive to unpacking and sorting).

There’s much more to document and share but for now I need to rest and get well. Regular blogging rhythm will recommence soon…

I read that book last week and it really resonated with me. I loved it. I've changed the way I fold my socks now and taught my boys to do the same haha. That salt air will be wonderful and healing x

I know just what you mean about the holiday home feeling. We moved 3 years ago and from day one I have felt like it is a vacation home. I still feel that way today. The layout of our new/old home is incredible, we have just enough storage space for our necessities and so I am on a "forced organizational" format and I love it. Everything out of sight, yet everything at our fingertips. I cannot tell you what it has done for me on an emotional/mental level.

"Feels like holiday" could have absolutely been among the winners of the Frankie magazine giveaway, if only you could have taken part…

Oh Jodie I just finished that book a couple weeks ago – I am sure my friends and husband are all bored to death of me talking about it! I have almost completed the clothing part – I emptied tw wardrobes and two dressing tables into the spare room, then brought up 13 crates of clothes – this had to be done in instalments as I could not fit them all in the room…. problem is that as I opened each box and held those garments in my hands, so often my response was a sincere "I love you – I love that you remind me of…." (14 boxes went into storage). I love her clothes folding technique – for the first time I can fit all my t-shirt and tops in a drawer! marvellous! But I am loving the process – the linen supplies have been fun. As an aside, wasn't the testimony in the front of the book funny – the only about the couple who after cleaning their house found it was one another that drove them nuts, so now they are happily divorced, all thanks to the Konmari method!

Ahhhhhh… I am off to look for that book – hoping my library have it so I don't need to add it to my collection 😉 And your salty photo… bliss. Amber. x
