repetition

I have completely lost track of time as we wander to and fro, in and out of sun-soaked days (we’ve been reading Sendak).

This morning I woke early to a tap on the arm from Che. He wanted so desperately to tell me about his Lego City Police Station. And so, for the first fifteen minutes of my day, I listened to the ‘story’ of the instruction booklet; how the bits attach to the blocks to make walls and windows. I was most impressed by the coffee machine on the second level of the station – it seems the Lego police officers have a penchant for a cappuccino, naturally.

I got up soon after to make breakfast, reply to emails and shower (loving these natural hair products and this vitalising facial scrub). I’ve been feeling a little bleh after a sweet and sugary Christmas so I headed to the local organic store for blueberries, natural yoghurt, bananas and almonds. Preparing such snacks mindfully, eating them slowly.

Later we’ll head to the ocean for an evening swim. I’ve packed a salad, some rye bread, hommus and drinks. We’ll stay at the beach till sunset and then we’ll drive home for a bath and bedtime stories.

Summer is wonderfully repetitive.

Happy weekend friends, what are you up to?

….to all those near the bushfires, stay safe x

I recognise this beach! I don't live far from here. LOVE your blog by the way, you have inspired me to create my own…. only 4 days into it but we'll see how it goes.

I also loved the coffee machine in the police station. Super hot and windy here in Tassie. Too much so to venture out.

Beautiful Jodi, it is so lovely to be free from the school/preschool/normal routine isn't it? I am loving it. Your snacks & beach picnic sound delicious!

    Hi Jodi,
There's something soothing about having a day at the beach that is unequaled to anything I can presently think of. If you can avoid the full sun shine and secure a shady place to take in the surrounds, it's perfect.

Also, LambLovesFox I happened to stop by your new blog and it's well worth the peek if anyone else would like to check it out. Such beautiful images in these blogs. Thank you ladies!

I love days at the beach… I started my day at Clovelly, then walked to Coogee to read in the shade. Perfect. Your day sounds wonderful 🙂 This weekend I'll stock up on yummy food at the markets, I've missed going these past few weeks while there's been a Christmas break x

We spent yesterday morning at the lagoon and watched all the kids ride the waves as the tide came in with the water rising from our ankles to our thighs. I wasn't feeling my best when I ventured out but seeing everyone having so much fun, including my own children, against the amazing blue sky was enough to get me breathing again. Such a lovely time of year.

It is my turn to sit here and remember what summer is like, in the depths of a British winter. it feels good to remember trips to rhe beach and plan for the summer to come. X

Lou, I'm with you on this one. I saw the word "summer" and had to fumble around in the back of my head trying to remember what the sky could look like without rain and grey/black clouds.
Oh to live in tropical climes. Or somewhere that isn't the North of England…

Our last 3 weekends in Australia. We are spending as much time near the water and in the outdoors as possible. We will be dropped into the dead of winter in the US so this summer, here, is so precious.

These are beautiful words, beautiful images. The part where you write about about eating a simple meal at the ocean and then driving home after the sun goes down struck me particularly. Cheers Jodi!
