Call me pedantic but I can’t condone bare baby shoulders during the day in height of summer; the bite of the Aussie sun is far too harsh. My ideals put me in a bit of a predicament; there aren’t many brands out there that make lightweight clothing with sleeves. So when French-born Verane from
June – Fine Baby Clothing contacted me, I was delighted by her range of tunics – the
Gaston and
Vinoo shirts are beautifully made and perfect for protecting sensitive, pure baby skin. In preparation for this post she sent me her most
recent collection; inspired by the colours of the Mediterranean and the ambiance of Capri, it’s fresh and beautiful and made entirely from natural fabrics (including a delightful range of Liberty of London prints).
She’s always adored fashion (she credits her French roots) but when her daughter was born Verane discovered the fabulous world of children’s clothing. “I wanted to carve out a new career path and while I was overwhelmed with the beautiful products out there I just couldn’t let my ideas go to waste,” she says. So she set about designing a brand for babies inspired by timeless and classic European clothing. Indeed, she’s created a harmonious blend of pretty and practical. “When I started out I wanted to combine my three nationalities; French, Australian and Vietnamese (my husband’s heritage). Manufacturing in Vietnam made the most sense so I sought out a family-run manufacturer who didn’t compromise on social or ethical responsibility. When I visited I immediately felt like it was the right place to produce my collections. Biche, the owner, has created a respectful and comfortable work environment and has been making children’s clothes for 25 years – it ticked all the boxes! I work closely with the pattern making team and the seamstresses and I have much admiration for their work…for bringing my dream designs to life.”
Verane lives in Bondi with her husband and young daughter and most days are brimming with play, work, mothering and designing. “I may be busy but it’s what I’ve always wanted. I feel quite privileged to be making these beautiful clothes for babies around Australia and the world.”

The Gaston shirt is the perfect colour combination for my littlest guy. I'm with you – we are all pale-skinned and summer sun-protective clothing, especially for boys, is a bit of a nightmare.
Oh how lovely! These pieces are all so sweet, but considering my nine month old's habit of crawling holes into his pant knees, I'd go for the yeye shorts! Bloomers or shorts may be the only article that would survive his enthusiastic crawling phase…
I love it all! The Heloise dress is particularly gorgeous, my blue eyed babe would wear it well. Love the checks but all the florals are so pretty too. Also think the boys stuff is nice for girls too. Kirstin
Oh what beautiful clothes, and so timeless! I personally love the little floral romper and you're right the kaftan style top is perfect for summer. We have 2 daughter's (2.5 year's old and a sweet little 4 week old) and I'm just trying to see what gaps need to be filled in their summer wardrobe.
How do I pick just one??? The whole collection is lovely, it's so hard to find boys clothes that don't have cars/trucks/bikes all over them. The Vinoo shirt would have to be my fave perfect for summer for a little boy with dermatitis
These are gorgeous items! I would go for the sweet romper for sure because as much as I love the idea of dressing my girl in dresses, they just aren't practical for crawling knees etc. A lightweight, summery romper would be the perfect item for my girl this season…and no horrible bright pinks!!!
Oh, I love them SO much!
The Gaston Shirt paired with the Yeye Shorts would be perfect for my fair baby. It looks like he has my skin genes so we think he'll freckle. I want to keep his skin freckle free for as long as possible so long sleeves are a must. I don't really want him in long stetchy tops because they're too warm. These beautiful floaty tops are light enough to be cool for summer and then easily layered for cooler days. As a potential bonus it might just be the beginning of a lifelong long sleeved habit for him.
These look so beautifully made and delicate, just how baby clothes should be. I have my eye on the lovely Yeye Shorts, so adorable!
These beautiful items, especially the fabric and patterns, make me think of late 19th century/early 20th's fashion in France. I would definitely pick the rompers for my daughter who is called June 😉 . I love the company's philosophy about fabrication. And I m a BIG fan of liberty pattern….
Ah, so beautiful! I love the gingham bloomers – they seem very 50s south of France (or le Midi); the perfect combination of chic and playful! It would make such a sweet gift for my twin sister who is expecting her first little baby boy in November 🙂
My heart just melted on the sight of Chloé Romper <3, our little lovely girl is due in Mid/ End of Jan, I can vividly picture her in each bloomer and romper 🙂 <3
The Lili top is my favorite! My dream of having a fair-skinned, blue-eyed girl (like her mama!) came true in my firstborn, and I prefer her to have a little bit of coverage on her shoulders in the summer months. My sweet girl is teething right now, so any fabric that comes anywhere near her hands gets soaked! A sleeveless top like this would be perfect. The pattern is delightfully feminine, as I would like my daughter to be as she grows older!
I can't get over how beautiful her collection is! My bud would look perfect in the vinoo shirt. Love how simple her pieces are. Easy to match for any occasion. Also I would flip if I won and was spoiled to see my little guy in these garments. Just perfect.
What a beautiful collection. The price that caught my eye was the Sweet Romper. I love the delegate patterned fabric. I like that her little knees can be covered, as she spends her day exploring her world from her knees, and her arms can get a touch of the sun. It is versatile as it could be pared with a knit hat and cardigan on the days with a breeze. If Evelyn had this sweet romper, perfectly named, it would be a go to piece in her closet.
It is really admirable that Verane knows personally by name her manufacturer, Biche. In a time where it is very difficult to find clothing that is traceable to the makers, it is refreshing to hear! Holding my 4 week old daughter Adele in my arms, the Adele dress automatically caught my eye. It is a lovely collection of clothing!
The whole collection is so lovely it's hard to choose a favourite! But, the Heloise dress is gorgeous and such a classic shape, and the Chloe romper in the Liberty fabric is so pretty too
What gorgeous clothing! I love that the collection ticks the two most important boxes for me. Firstly they are ethically produced (and able to explain it!) and secondly the clothes let kids be kids. They are free to eat, move and play while looking like a child, not a mini adult. My favourite piece would have to be the Yeye shorts. Perfect for a girl or a boy!
Ooh, such lovely pieces. And I can relate somewhat to Verane as my children have double nationalities, French and Australian and I write this from the south of france! Plus we honeymooned several years ago in Vietnam so her three countries are in our mix too. As a fair, freckly woman I too like the long sleeves and I think my son has inherited my skin so I do love the gaston shirt. But the rompers would look gorgeous on my little French/Aussie girl! Well done Verane…
Oh gosh! I love the natural vibe of the collection, especially the floral prints everywhere. The combination of the boom bloomers with an Adele dress or Suzette top – gorgeous for girls <3!
I love the Gaston shirt – just perfect! x
I love the Fifi Scarf & the Chloé Romper because they are adorable, & they would look so cute together!

I recently discovered June and I have to say it's so refreshing to see soft, earthy tones and prints for little ones.
I believe their attire should not overpower their "cuteness" but rather compliment and enhance it.
The Chloe play suit is my pick, there's nothing better than a liberty print and legs rolls for summer!
Zoe, Sydney
The weather is only just starting to warm up here in Kyneton, Victoria and my friend has had her winter babe, called June Claire, all rugged up. As baby number two this gorgeous girl would love some non-hand-me-downs and I think the Sweet Romper for sweet baby June would fit perfectly!
Thank you for sharing this amazing store, the pieces are beautiful! I wish I had a little girl to dress in the gorgeous playsuits. But the Vinoo shirt is something that would suit my son perfectly – I always despair between trying to keep him cool in the summer heat while protecting the sensitive, pale skin that he inherited from his red-headed mama (sorry buddy!).
Oh! The Vinoo shirt is my favourite pick for my baby boy. I also feel the importance of breathable, natural fibres for sun protection – so important for Australian summers. We live on a farm in Central Victoria and have just been evacuated with the first bush fires of the season – times like these youreally value beautiful lightweight changes of clothes!
Florals and Liberty prints, ethically made, 100% cotton and particularly French inspired clothing that can be so hard to find here in Australia, what's not to love! I adore the look of florals on little girls but for more practical reasons I love the Vinoo shirt. Having had a skin cancer removed from my forehead this time last year has made me even more aware and stringent when it comes to protecting my girls skin. This beautiful, long sleeved, cotton shirt ticks all the boxes for me! x Andrea
Such lovely pieces! One even more than the other. Anyhow, the Vinoo Shirt would be the most beautiful present I could make to my friend who is just expextig her third boy. She desperately was hoping it would be a girl this time so that she, the crazy sewer, could make some little dresses out of her favorite fabrics. The Vinoo shirt has such a delicate texture and a kind of swedish (her favorite country!) fashion style that she'd forget all about her fabrics immediately, I'm sure.
I'm so impressed with the designs and the care towards the makers. What a great company. I would love to buy the Vinoo Shirt and Yeye Shorts that Percy is wearing for a friend who moved from the mountains to the beach and just had a baby boy. I think it's much better to be dressed head to toe in light clothing than exposed in the harsh sun especially at this age too. I have to let out a squeal for the liberty but alas I am surrounded by boys!
What a gorgeous range. Our pick would be the Adele dress which like most of dresses would go from long dress to slightly shorter dress onto top before being passed down to little sister for the same dress/top deal. All going well we get 4 summers out of a great dress!
I love the playfulness of the chino pants for my little guy. The colour and style will keep him having fun and staying cool all summer long. It's so rare to find a classic but kid friendly line of clothing for boys.
Simple beauty of the line….it let's the bright spirit wearing it shine bright!
I love a sun smart baby in a light cotton shirt and little baby bloomers. So, for that reason, I pick the Gaston shirt as my favourite piece, and I'd girl it up with floral Boom bloomers. The June Baby products are beautiful, to me they are classic simplicity at its best. Cool and comfortable will make for a happy baby (that is still stylish).
The Vinoo shirt looks smart and cool. It's so much harder to find loose cotton clothes for boys here, I've yet to find the equivalent of the light cotton dresses I could throw on my daughter for my 12 month old son. This collection looks perfect.
Such a sweet, fresh collection! I would love the Sweet romper for my sweet marguerite – it's the same liberty print as the dress on her favourite Waldorf doll. She would be so excited to have a matching outfit!

I am in love with the cute pastel-blue gingham print, but I am also in love with the idea of mixing it with Liberty… My favoutite piece would be the Heloise dress (with a Liberty scarf worn as a headband!). Well done Vérane. Such an inspiring story! x
The Vinoo shirt and Yeye shorts are just perfect. I have a two year old daughter and a four month old son and it seems to me that finding beautiful, timeless clothing has been much easier for my little girl than it has been for my son. When looking for baby boy clothing, it seems the only options are covered in trucks, cars, or dinosaurs. The June Baby line has clothing that can be passed down from child to child regardless of gender or spacing; the clothes will be just as beautiful ten years down the road as they are now. Thank you for introducing me to such a wonderful brand.
I would choose the yeye short. i find it so hard to find classic, good quality boys clothes and the yeye short and vinoo top are just that perfect simple classic style that is lacking in the market. How beautiful
The Heloise dress us fun
Love the baby espadrilles! They remind me that even though I only have boys right now, one day, I just might have a little girl that could frolick around in them 🙂
Finally some beautiful baby boy clothes that aren't meh! I'm always a little envious of all those beautiful girl patterns and dresses. I would love the Yeye shorts for my Edwin this summer. xsx
how lovely everything is! I think the swimsuit is the sweetest, its just like the ones my mum used to make for me, I loved them so much x
This whole collection is beautiful, but that Vinoo top called my name. Or rather, made me see my sweet, serious little girl, smiling behind her two fingers plugged into her mouth, leaning back into my chest wearing this cool and breezy top. Clothing for little girls that is practical, well made, and lovely without being garish is so hard to find, and I feel like a shirt like the Vinoo is something that lets my babe's true beauty shine.
The Heloise Dress for its versatility, heirloom quality, and simple beauty!
how comfortable they look
The vinoo shirt for it's shape and simplicity.
A beautiful collection. I just love the Gaston shirt. I have 3 boys and I'm always on the search for the perfect cotton shirt. Classic, easy to wear and sun smart. This shirt just calls summer to me. I can imagine Sam my 3 year old helping Dad with farm chores, chasing after his big brothers or popping it over his head after swimming lessons. And then when he has grown I can pass it to his little sister for another summer.
Little girls in floral prints and bloomers, call me old fashioned, but there is nothing sweeter! It's a rare day when my sweet babes are not sporting a beautiful floral print or some cute nappy bottom bloomers. So my eyes were immediately drawn to these items in your range, I especially love the 'lili top'. But while the clothes are beautiful, I immediately wanted to give you my business when I read that you care about the process as well as the product. I know it takes a lot of time, energy and there is often a financial cost to finding affordable places to make garments, where the people involved in production are not only respected and therefore given good working conditions, but their skills are truly valued as part of the team. I really commend and thankyou for you for that, as I have found it hard to find clothes that are both beautiful, practical and ethically produced.
I have a crush on the Yeye shorts because they look to have an irresistible softness about them. I love feeling soft cotton on my babies soft skin. Not only does it provide ultimate comfort and breath-ability but also I adore feeling such delicate, soft fabric on their little bottom when I'm snuggling them into my body. It's just a little slice of luxury in the days of hardship as a mother.
I am in LOVE with the Chino pants! My sister in law just had a baby boy and he would be adorable in those!
The gatson shirt is soooooo cute. But I love all the pieces…
The gatson shirt is soooooo cute. But I love all the pieces…
Definitely the Vinoo shirt! Not only because Percy looks gorgeous in it, but I do agree about protecting that soft baby skin. Our NZ summer sun is so harsh……..and even though my babies are brown skinned, I'll still be shrouding especially the 16 month old one in soft cotton shirt and wraps this summer x
I really love the Vinoo shirt stripped because it looks so comfortable, beautiful and simple. Hopefully I am lucky enough to win and try it for my little one, too 🙂
Good Luck to everyone!
Thank You for the chance!!

Such a beautiful, simple, timeless collection – I would have trouble choosing just one item! I do think a baby dressed in white is hard to beat … the Louise top would look so sweet on my little Sylvie June (named June in honour of my dear late grandmother) paired with any of the floral bloomers. Thank you for sharing this line – I am always on the lookout for ethically produced children's clothing so, either way, I suspect an order may be on the horizon!
I love the Louise top. It would be perfect for our little one.
I really really love the baby espadrilles! They are adorable! I'd love to get a pair to go with the Chloe romper and the Fifi scarf! My friend is having a baby soon! This would be perfect if it's a girl! Honestly all the stuff is really cute there. I hope I win this.. I'd have fun shopping for these beautiful and well made baby clothes and accessories. Oh and if I do win.. fingers crossed. The email I posted with I don't use.. you can contact me angelatrenna (AT) earthlink (dot) net
I am in love with the Heloise dress! I love the classic simplicity of it.
I have to say, I'm loving this whole collection, but the Heloise dress is so pretty! The bright color and that pattern, remind me of picnic on a beautiful summer day. The design just emanates simplicity with beauty with overall wholesomeness that I think is lacking in some children's clothes today. Can't get much more classic then this dress, love!
I love the Gaston Shirt! and the Chino Pants! My little man would look so adorable!
I love the little boom bloomers !
I am really drawn to the baby espadrilles. I have a new niece (she's just 7 weeks old) and everything about her is adorable – the way she smells, the way she is starting to smile, the way her eyes lock onto mine. And, of course, all her adorable baby clothes. I think all baby clothes are cute, but something about tiny little baby shoes for tiny little baby feet really pull on my heartstrings.
The Sweet Romper is so adorable. I can see a little girl sitting in the grass playing, wearing it.
I love the Adele Dress
, it is so cute and summery looking.
I love the Boom Bloomer perfect to go with dresses or t-shirts.
