eye check
So it turns out that Che isn’t one of those children that has a fear of medical appointments. Last year when we took him to the dentist, he was pretty excited. Earlier this week, when we took him to the optometrist, he literally counted down the hours.
I wasn’t too concerned about his eyesight but there are quite a few serious eye issues in my family so I wanted to get the all clear. The optometrist was a rather serious guy who had no choice but to lighten up when Che started talking. Because, when he was asked to name the pictures on the screen, the result was pure comedy:
“Fish, flower, dog, duck.”
“Dog, duck, fish, flower.”
“Small duck, dog, flower (or maybe it’s an arrow), fish.”
The ‘small duck’ got me, who would have thought he would use adjectives in the eye test?! That’s my boy.
And the result? Exceptional eyesight. Che’s reaction? Pure disappointment. “I wanted glasses!”
That's precious 'I wanted glasses!' haha.
i love that second photo!

Off to the op shop to find a pair you can poke the lenses out of and let him wear. How cute.
Glad to hear his eyesight is perfect!
Abi loathes any kind of appt like these. Dr, Dentist, you name it, she hates it. Which is terrible because we are regular visitors to the children's dr when her eczema flares up 🙁
Che sounds like a very cool cat indeed.

Too cute! Blessing in disguise NOT having eye problems, coming from someone who wore glasses 24 years!! XX
I'm about to take my little boy before he starts school too. He is already pleading with me to have glasses. I fear he may be disappointed too!
What a beaut-iful blog!! Fab photos Jodi
*giggles* [on that last comment]. Che is so sweet! Have a lovely weekend Jodi x
gorgeous boy, gorgeous photos. my eldest two are the same, we had a trip to the dentist last week and they were counting down too. x
Ahh Che – i hear you! I want glasses too – they look sharp and purposeful and colourful! for now i need to be happy with my 20/20 vision… poor me.
lovely blog!!
awww that is sweet 🙂
i love the b/w images. very classic
I love the second photo of him! My mom knew I'd have the same reaction at my first eye appointment when I was six, so she promised to buy me fake glasses if I didn't need them. No need. I've been wearing [real] glasses ever since.
Beautiful photos and a very cool story.
🙂 Reminded me of the time when my sister tried to fail her eye exam, being 6 or 7 years old at the time, because she wanted glasses like her friend.
p.s. I too loved going to the dentist office as a young child. They were very nice and had an awesome electric train that ran around the ceiling!
love the photos. You have given me the idea that if/when I have children I will make going to doctors appointments fun 🙂
