“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2012.”
Che: Wrapped in a serape, watching the children play on the sand below.Β
Poet: She watched the big kids from afar; so many squeals.
*if you came here earlier today you may have noticed different portraits to the ones I have here now. A lovely American reader pointed out that wearing an Indian headdress is offensive to their sacred culture, hence why I took the photo down.

Wow, your first photo of Che takes your breath away – beautiful. Little Poet looks adorable in her wee bonnet. Have a lovely week.
I adore how both of your children are wearing some pretty cute head pieces ; )
Oh I'd want to take the Indian headdress home too! Very beautiful pictures – simple – what life should be about π

Beautiful photos! How to resist such an amazing headdress? It looks like a lovely time.
the headdress is amazing! great photos π
Oh, their names! They are such beautiful children. You capture their lives so incredibly. I hope someday I can be as loving a mama as you! x
aww, that was sweet of you to take it down. i saw it earlier and loved it so much that i didn't have the heart to mention it (though i'm glad someone, in a kind way i hope, did). i'm always a little torn on the subject because they make for such powerful images. xo
Tori was very kind with her explanation of why it wasn't appropriate. I had absolutely no idea so I hope you and every other reader excuses my ignorance! x
Great photos Jodi i love how you capture their little expressions so well. I loved the head piece and had no idea it could have been offensive, you learn something new everyday… Hope you are enjoying your weekend. x
As an American I don't see it as offensive as long as it's not accompanied with stereotypical actions! They are beautiful objects and when worn with a spirit of respect they are perfectly acceptable.
But these are beautiful too, of course. You were blessed with photogenic children!
I adore how they watch the world and take it all in! Those eyes ever taking snapshots of what's around them. Beautiful x
these photos are stunning also! :)sarah
Beautiful photos of beautiful children. π
These photos are beautiful too x
These photo's are just as lovely as the last, Jodi. Poet's pouty lips and inquisitive eyes never cease to melt my heart.

Such beautiful photos as always.
I love these photos although it kind of unsettles me that it's up to 49/52! Didn't you just start doing this? Are we really that close to the end of the year? Time sure flies sometimes, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing.
it absolutely freaks me out. It feels likes I've been doing this for about three months. Such a great record though – both C & P have grown so much this year; I'm so relieved I captured it in weeks x
It's delightful. I think I might try and take weekly portraits of my two this coming year (although not for online publication – I'm far too paranoid for that!) π
As always, beautiful.
It almost looks to cold for a swim x
Watching the big kids. Such a vivid memory as a child. Wanting to join, but realizing you just couldn't. Lovely lovely.
thanks for sharing.
