“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”
Che: A boy, his shadow, and the milky way
Poet: She’s my (determined and bossy) kitchen companion
A child’s shadow is fascinating; an exaggerated mimic yet still so delicate.
This week I adored the joy, maturity and cheek of Maxabella’s portraits / the soft, inquisitive touch between brand new siblings / the senses captured / her last week as a one-year-old / Archie and a distinctly Australian backdrop.

I love Poet in the kitchen. Her expression is priceless. Also- I spy a squash in the background…the seasons are turning!
Poet is so adorable!
loving Poet in the kitchen. she is getting so big.
As much as I always love your photographs of Che the pictures you capture of Poet are utterly stunning. She reminds me of myself as a little girl…I have curly hair too and people always chimed the poem ‘There once was a girl with a great big curl right in the middle of her forehead. And when she was good she was very very good and when she was bad she was horrid’ at me when I was little.
loving the light and shadow of chalking the universe and the angel look of your kitchen helper. What character you have caught in her expression! So beautiful! xxxx
Poet looks like a doll in this photo! Such a beautiful little girl… oh, those curls!
That chalk looks amazing and Poet is such a great little helper!!
ahh chalk is amazing! x
All that colour! So beautiful.
I love all the blue chalk-it looks wondrous
Her curls!!! x
Such evocative shots Jodi, I especially love your little man in the centre of his own Milky Way – beautiful!
Oh! My 2 year old son is the boss in the kitchen too!
Adore the art and the assertiveness a great combination.
Did Poet just turn into a little girl or what? Her limbs are so long! And that Milky Way is divine xx
Your daughter is a classic beauty.
oh just look at those big eyes and those curls. poet is so gorgeous x
We love chalk drawing. We used to go to the local chalk festival before it stopped and the kidlets could draw all over the boardwalk. It is a shame they no longer do it.
Smooches to Poet. x
Great moment captures with the chalk/shadow creations. And what a determined look on little miss!
We love chalk drawing round here as well… it's just been way too wet to get out there and do it.
Gorgeous blues in these photos, and little Poet's face is so adorable 🙂

That portrait of Poet is amazing! It looks like it needs to be done in oils and hung in the art museum.
The colour in your photo of Che is just beautiful. And Poet she is just so very cute, those curls and her lips. 🙂 xx
Sweet baby girl! We invested in an Aussie version of the "learning tower" and haven't looked back. And Master Che and his rainbows of chalk…perfect! Have a beautiful, slow Sunday 🙂 x

Your kids fascinate me. So beautiful. So calm.

His universe is amazing, her cheekiness a match. I know that "I do it" face so well… it's Lottie altogether at that age.
It's SO NICE that you like my pictures. You know how much it means to me to be the "taker" of the pictures, not just the admirer. I may explode with pride, I really might. x
I especially love the photo of Poet this week and the light in your kitchen, so beautiful.
Love the shot of Poet – she definitely seems determined in this one! 🙂

i can see the artist in your child 🙂
Love Poet's beautiful curls! There is something about curls on little girls that makes me melt. Is that spray on the bench top 'Counter Intelligence'? We use that, smells so nice.
wow, love both pictures, my favorite week. your images have such depth to them. the light in the kitchen is stunning.
Love the angle of the image of Che. The omniscient presence of the camera into his world is amazing.

These kids seem so content, well done you! I love these weekly posts! 🙂
I think your caption for Che's portrait would make a lovely children's book title.

Such beautiful pictures! I have a friend who is taking pictures of her kids each week in 2013 – I'll have to pass this linkup along to her 🙂 xo! E

Footpath art – the best. Thank you so very much for using the word "adored" and reference to my picture in the same sentence. I'm tickled pink!

Really appreciating your second photo Jodi. Amazing light (and beautiful subject) against the background of domestic ordinariness. An image that captures an Australian childhood 🙂
