winter : oyster farms

The view from the carriage is always beautiful, especially when the train weaves around the Hawkesbury River, past tiny fisherman cottages, derelict sheds and humble tinnies.

Early Saturday morning the rain was bucketing and the fog was heavy. It made for an eerie yet mesmerising picture.

The Hawkesbury certainly is an eerie magical place. I grew up not far from there and the train ride through there remains my favourite. I always used to dream I would live in one of those little shacks you can only reach by boat 🙂

Gosh, many moons ago I lived in Gosford and went to tafe in Hornsby, so I know this journey well. This part was always so serene, especially early in the morning when it's foggy. These days I'm a million miles away in London, so thanks for reminding me.

I take this train trip twice a week to work, i will never tire of that view. There is a beautiful little blue cottage with a chimney that stands alone on the edge of the river, i dream about what it would be like to live there, it would be so peaceful, truly my dream home. One day i will hop off the train at Woondabyne & photograph it so i can hang it on my wall.

I have always been drawn to eerie-type imagery. This is haunting, but so beautiful. I would be itching to explore.
