Poet: Back to her normal, mischievous self after an eventful week. She wears her “leaf” with pride.
This week marked some firsts for Daniel and I. It was the first time that someone had seriously hurt one of our children (albeit by complete accident) and it was also the first time we has spent the night in hospital; witnessing our little one be sedated at stitched and monitored. In the scheme of accidents and health issues it was minor and yet it affected us both more than we ever expected.
Parenting is, at its very core, heart work. And sometimes, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.

Seeing your little ones hurt is the worst. Especially when you can't fix it with a kiss or an ice cream. Glad all is well now.
Poor Poet. I am sorry you guys had to go through that. Lots of blood coming from your child is a very scary thing. Then having to head to the hospital and watch them be monitored, makes it even worse, playing out all the "what ifs" in your mind. I am glad that is all behind you and Poet looks like she is back to her happy self.
Parenting is full of so many firsts…it never ends no matter how old they get.

I am curious what happened, I've been around some terrible friends of my big brother's when I was little, but none of them ever (by accident) hurt me so terribly. Happy healing to Poet!
Nothing worse than seeing your child hurt. Glad all are on the mend.
I think when our kids get hurt they get over it long before we do….healing thoughts to you all
Jodi she looks gorgeous here. It is I think the worst part of parenthood, watching your children in pain. So many times I cried as I watched the girls endure a procedure in the NICU, wishing there was some way I could help or stop it, even when you knew it was necessary and actually helping them. I hope your heart has recovered and you have rested up since your long night in hospital.
oh that's terrible – its such a sobering shock to witness a child being hurt – so glad Poet is ok x
that's a major gash! we also had our first stitches (chin) with our little girl and i was just a little pregnant, sleeping on a chair in the hospital. luckily we got to go home quickly since it wasn't a head wound. poet looks much improved but you can really tell how big that cut was! glad she's fine now. i know she'll wear a scar/leaf with pride but i hope it heals invisibly!

Mila has the same wound. Anxiety inducing to say the least. Poet's eyes are happy here. I think they recover sooner than we do. x
