“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”
Che: He gave me 10 shots before he ran off to play with the neighbours; bright winter sun on a day cold enough for a scarfΒ (and he needs a haircut).
Poet: We have arrived at two – “No” and “Miiiiiiiiiine” have been the words of the week.Β
Following on from the discussion about capturing the child’s beloved belongings within a portrait, I’ve been thinking about the idea of home. I usually capture close-up portraits of the children but this week I’m going to work at stepping back, capturing them in their home – the photographer just passing by.

This week the happy, colourful shots over at Airstream Family made meΒ smile / Free of fever and looking absolutely adorable in a corner of light – little Saul and his mop of curls / I love Harper and Finn’s expressions; so honestΒ / Possibly the best silhouette-by-the-ocean shot I have ever seen…and I can’t go past a pouty, sleeping babe / and finally, a sketch from a dad besotted with his girls.

i like the idea of children in the home and taking the passer by approach.
wow don't they look like you! I mean that's always been the case, but wow they really look like you! Love both their hair in these portraits too!

lovely nose wrinkle from poet! x
Beautiful little people
Oh, Poet looks so wonderfully happy. Beautiful pictures, as always!
Oh, they are just beyond sweet! Don't cut his hair, it's awesome!
Also, I love the way you dress these two. Such beautiful souls they are.
Poet oozes cheekiness… I love it!
loving these two photos together – the difference in the expressions is what gets me. they are both adorable.
These are perfect as always Jodi! I have so missed being part of this series – this week was the first in which I managed to properly capture all four boys since, I think, the first week we brought Bear home…
Ronnie xo
p.s. I dreamt of you last night. You made an amazing five-tiered cake.
I'm not sure I could make a five-tiered cake but I'm certain I could eat one π – adore your portrait this week, Ronnie. All your beautiful, beautiful boys x
Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one. I dreamt of my mother baking in our old house by the sea. In my dream she was in her twenties. I wonder if it's a memory or how I imagine her.
P.S. Just checked out your blog and it is beautiful.

so cute photos!
Such similar faces, such contrasting shots. Beautiful as always. Wishing you a gorgeous Sunday π xx
Really stunning shots this week…I love both of them. I hope you have a lovely weekend!
such beauty in them each in their own way!! That mischievous Poet reminds me of my daughter when she was two…she's about to turn five and still as mischievous as ever!!!
Love the knitwear on both your kids. I like Che's hair love adds to his cheekiness.
Ha! My son did about the same this week. "Come on Mum! I want to play!" I'm not sure how long I can keep up these portraits. He's just turned 7. As for my lads, they never were awful at two. It was four that I struggled with. There now (again).
I found 3 the most challenging with Che. However, Poet has a fire burning bright within – she is stubborn, determined and rough. On the morning of her 2nd birthday she refused to get dressed…and so it begins x
I love your photos this week. The expressions on their faces; two very different shots but yet, they're looking more alike, I think.
I know I say it often but Poet has such a sparkle in her eyes which is so very cute and her hair has become so blonde:) Lovely photos Jodi. x
I just love Poet's cheekiness and the cardi is awesome. I've linked you to my blogpost this week. Great photos as always. http://www.poppyfoxathome.com/2013/07/3052-portrait-project.html
They're beautiful Jodi. Che's outfit (and his hair!) are awesome. Poet has the cheekiest little face, I bet she is a constant delight.
i love how che often looks so contemplative in your portraits and poet often looks cheeky π x
– an honest reflection of their personalities x
I love that Che gives you a set number of shots π That shot of Poet is so fresh and lovely, and her hair seems to be getting lighter every week!
I really like your challenge for next week. I will be interested to see what you capture when you take a step back.
Also, thank you so much for putting my link up. They're two real moments and both ones that I am glad that I captured (even if one came out of a great deal of difficulty over the week π ). Thanks again x
Ahhh I love the wistful, carefree hair. Che looks more and more like the young man he is destined to be and sweet little Poet looks as if she is about to burst into a fit of giggles and perhaps tell you 'No' again.
Your portraits are stunning this week, Jodie.

So serious and so cheeky. Wonderful portraits Jodi xx
Thanks for the mention this week! Beautiful portraits this week, as always π
my favourite portrait for Poet EVER. Seriously, that girl.
of, not for.
#cursemyfatfingers
Che looks so grown up here, that's a teenager's glint in his eye for sure!
They are so beautiful with their blonde curls & all.x
I have a very-nearly-3-year-old who sounds a lot like Poet in temperament. I think that's partly why I love photographing him – because he is still and sweet in that capture, rather than a whirlwind in real life.
Poet's outfit is gorgeous. I'd wear it myself!
absolutely stunning shot of che, love it x
I'm absolutely in love with your blog and your style, I follow you from Spain http://juliatienza.blogspot.com.es/
They're growing so fast. beautiful shots!
Look at all those beautiful winter woolies. And the sweet children wearing them. They must bring so much happiness to your heart.

Ohh my Gosh… So honored to be one of your favorites!!!! Yujuu…. Thank you very much. Definitely from every hard moment we should always have something positive and that awful fever gave us the price of being part of the 52 project's Podium. You and all the fellow bloggers really have being an inspiration for me!
Your children have such striking facial features. Gorgeous.
