“A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2014.”
Poet: strumming a found-by-the-side-of-the-road guitar and singing her best rendition of “twinkle, twinkle” (and laughing at her enthusiastic audience).
This shot was taken in my parents’ garden, the same garden I grew up in. I’m so grateful that my kids get to experience the beauty of it, with its big gums, abundant vegie patch, ramshackle shed and countless kookaburras. And look at all those self-seeded herbs! Isn’t nature fascinating.

Beautiful Stella and Hugo, looking sweet as pie despite their rough week / Fancy a laugh? Pop over to see Kellie’s amazing capture of Olive and read the caption (!) / jumping and singing – wow! / a new blog find and a truly lovely one at that…Afon is divine / and finally, Leo and brand new Anouk – oh the cuteness, and now I’m clucky.

how sweet that she gets to visit where you grew up. Lily is so far from that…. and what a nice find!
What a sweet photo- love it!
What a great find!
Oh my, that picture is adorable.
this is my favorite so far!
Love that she gets to spend time where you grew up. My parents still own the home that I grew up in (and where my husband and I were married in the backyard) and I'm excited for her to spend many summers there.
It made my heart swell last summer when we went home and C helped my dad in his garden…worms and carrots.
I wish we lived closer to my parents so it could be a more regular occurrence…and so that I could take advantage of all those home grown veggies!
I love the greenery behind her in this shot, Jodi. So fresh and beautiful.
Such a beautiful smile. Gorgeous Jodi x
It is my dream to create a backyard for our children that brings the memories you have spoken of Jodi, what a wonderful world to grow up in. And Poet is looking so grown up in this capture, my how they grow (slow down babies!) xxxx

I love the photo in your parents backyard and it looks so rustic and home and a wonderful grandparents garden. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane, Australia
Sounds like my idea of the perfect garden!
Such a beautiful little soul in such a beautiful garden. It must be lovely to share all your familiar hiding spots with your babies. Hope your week is lovely. Xx
I love images of nature taking over, all the plants pushing through the cracks, a beautiful mix of beauty… and then there's Poet with that smile! x

Jodi, I'm so grateful for the link-up. Afon has quite the fan club, and I imagine he and Poet have very similar tempers!
I know what you mean about the school system not being very forgiving to rest and home time. It's one of the things I've been weighing for considering homeschooling. Such a shame that we have to translate "rest and slowness" to "running late" in today's day in age. Is the rushrushrush really all that important that we have to consider it intrinsically faulty not to intentionally divorce ourselves from it from time to time?
This is absolutely wonderful. I love kid's enthusiasm, so contagious 🙂
Look at that lovely smile! She's going to be a performer of sorts, I think 😉 x
What a beautiful garden. My parents still live in the house I grew up in too, my kids love going there.
Such an adorable picture x
