walking with poet
She’s a walk three steps, take five back, kind of girl. A mountain of work is waiting at home and I have to constantly remind myself not to utter the words: “hurry up”.
I’ve started tying her hair in a messy bun and all of a sudden I see the girl and not the toddler. Almost two-and-a-half, she has fire in her belly and a big, generous heart. Her cuddles are tight and her kisses plentiful. And as for her chin mudra; she has obviously inherited the the yogi gene.
Our seven minute walk took an hour today.

I hope your weekend is a good one. I’ll be teaching and writing and (hopefully) taking a walk along the beach. See you on Sunday morning with 48/52 (we are so close to the end!).

Oh Jodi, your posts always inspire me in every way…
I shall try and do the same with my boys.
Happy weekend,
Ronnie xo
Oh, how I wish I had your patience! I will try to be a little less rushed on our next walk, sometimes I forget how small my Lamb still is.
I'll admit, today was the exception. But I do try to enjoy the slow of it all; work can wait 😉 x
I'd live to live my whole life at Toddler pace. This is the goal…
I have been trying so hard not to be constantly saying "hurry up" after reading this fabulous post a few weeks ago.. http://www.handsfreemama.com/2013/07/16/the-day-i-stopped-saying-hurry-up/
I admit it is hard though, especially when we have to be at school each day at 8.30am!
Maybe there is time for both speeds? A faster pace on school days, but an agreed committment to slow down at other times?
Hang on, isn't she a newborn?! What's all this long walks business???? Oh it's so hard to watch our social media babes grow up before our eyes. Hard and utterly wonderful.mX
I reeeeally struggle with the hour long walks that should take 5 minutes, it KILLS me, I get so impatient and cross! Especially at 35 weeks pregnant I'm usually on the verge of wetting my pants and he's sitting in the nature strip picking flowers, haha.
you have the best excuse, Claire. A few months ago we were walking home and it started pouring with rain. Poet refused to get in the pram and I didn't have an umbrella. We were both soaked through and crying by the time we got home. It must have looked so dramatic to the cars driving by. One of THOSE days x
I remeber long walks. When my son was 2 he was interested in every leaf. I remeber ours puddles walking – every puddle had to be tested. Now he is almost seven and we are in hurry. His school, my work, his footbal treining, his exercises speech therapy. Sometimes I ask myself – where is time for me, my hobbies… Have a nice weekend. We have cold, windy weather. Winter is coming.
So beuatiful, I love your blog and love the fact that if I go to the previous posts I can see your son and daughter when they were babies!
That´s such a beautiful share! Thank you.
Carol
I've been off on maternity leave for the last year and so have been able to walk my 5 year old to and from school each day. Through each season we wandered across our little town at a snail's pace; testing the buoyancy of acorns, popping into the bakery for a granola cookie, admiring the shop windows… Some days it felt like it took too long but come Monday when I return to work I know I will be so thankful for each wandering walk we shared.
you are so patient! the lady was meandering around the park today picking dandelions, it was the sweetest thing.
gorgeous messy bun there poet 🙂
Beautiful. I'm practicing slowing down with my 11 month old as she climbs the stairs at a snails pace!
Lovely photos! 🙂

Justin and Jarvis meet me outside work and we all walk home, what takes me five minutes to get to work can take up to an hour to get home. No matter how tired I am I remind myself to just enjoy every stick, every leaf that is is gifted to me on our way home.
She looks so grown up here! Love that messy bun xx
