taking time to walk
It has been unseasonably warm this week; I’ve been wearing summer dresses and sandals and lifting my face to the sun. Despite a busy work schedule and four days of solo parenting I’ve managed to find a little balance these past few days – regular walks with my flower thief, early nights and hearty food has ensured I stay as grounded as possible. All my good work went out the window last night when my laptop froze and showed me a scary blue screen. The panic! However, for the first time in my life I fixed something technical which is both highly unbelievable and empowering. I find when Daniel is away I’m more likely to get on with the job instead of procrastinating about it or relying on him to do it for me.
I’m settling in for a weekend of…work. It’s enjoyable work though and I plan to break up the writing sessions with a yoga class, a few walks and some reading time. I’m currently loving Tiny Beautiful Things and Burial Rites – so vastly different to each other so I pick up whichever one suits my mood at the time.
In other places:
tropical smoothies in Bali – take me back
productive rest days
getting the most out of your child’s wardrobe (from a mother’s/stylist’s perspective)
raising beautiful boys
the six-year-old transformation (an aha moment for me – the losing of the first tooth is the catalyst for change)
my new favourite skirt – organic bamboo + natural dye
I hope you have a really lovely weekend. Make sure you take some time to walk and lift your face to the sun.
Beautiful Jodi, the weather has closed in on us here and we are all set for a wintry, cozy weekend. I am just about to finish another wonderful book which I'll add to your list for when you finish those. Oh how I loved them both. xx
I've been wearing short dresses too – such funny, lovely weather we're having.
Oh, that dreaded blue screen of panic. It's the worst! Very relieved to read you managed to fix it.

p.s. Happy weekend of writing!
Oh, how funny! I just mentioned on Gaby's blog that I have Burial Rites on my pile to read once I've finished my current books. Have a lovely weekend. Linda. x
Oooh I'm almost through Burial Rites, I've one more evening of reading to go. I'm savouring it. A wonderful read.
I read burial rites at the end of my pregnancy – so intense and compelling! Have a great weekend. Kellie xx

I just finished tiny beautiful things last night, her writing restores faith in the overall goodness in each of us. I have her book wild next up in my pile. Have a wonderful weekend!
Tiny Beautiful things is so lovely, have you read Wild? It's even better.
Wild is on my "must buy soon" list … I've only ever heard brilliant things x
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.”
― Søren Kierkegaard
ooo I've been looking at burial rites…is it good? i am reading life after life by Kate Atkinson at the moment and it's wonderful as was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern last month! Have a beautiful weekend Jodi, see you in a bit for the 52 project xxxxx
I loved that Bali smoothie post as well 🙂 That, and her travel tips. I'm going to try to re-create most of them when we fly to Canada later this year x
